Why This Matters
We know that the impact of trauma doesn’t stop outside of office hours. For many people, the medico-legal process begins after an incident or trauma. While they may eventually receive treatment or psychological support, there is a clear gap between the incident itself and access to formal therapy. During that time, people can experience anxiety, overwhelm, intrusive thoughts, sleep difficulties and uncertainty, often when support is hardest to access.
We recognised an opportunity to do more. Our new service is designed to provide compassionate, immediate support when people need it most, helping them feel heard, supported and reassured during a difficult period of their life.
Innovation with Purpose
This isn't therapy and it doesn't replace existing healthcare, treatment or support services. What it does provide is something equally important - a safe, professional source of emotional support at the moment it is needed. Incident and Trauma Support reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation, ethical practice and delivering genuinely person-centred care. It's another way of us making sure that our services do more than assessing the impact of trauma.
UKIM Managing Director, Ian Scanlan, says:
Instructing parties increasingly recognise the importance of adopting a trauma-aware approach when supporting clients through legal claims.
By embedding incident and trauma support within our service model, we are helping solicitors and insurers demonstrate a commitment to client wellbeing while strengthening their safeguarding and duty-of-care posture.
More importantly, we are ensuring that individuals facing some of life’s most difficult circumstances have somewhere to turn when they need support most.
UKIM have long believed that healthcare should extend beyond assessment and documentation. This new service reflects that philosophy and aligns naturally with our existing expertise in psychological wellbeing, developed through both our medico-legal services and our Pebble Wellbeing offering.
At UKIM, we've always believed that our role goes beyond producing high-quality medical reports. Every day, our teams help support individuals who are recovering from serious injury, trauma, illness, clinical negligence or life-changing events. Behind every case is a person navigating what can be one of the most challenging periods of their life.
Our commitment to putting people first is why we're excited to announce the launch of a brand-new service that we believe is a real milestone for UKIM and the wider medico-legal sector.
